Youth Choir "Voices for living in harmony"
Bilingual (English) Secondary School "Francisco Umbral" (Ciempozuelos, Madrid)
This choir was founded in January 2008 by Alfonso Elorriaga in order to create a mixed youth choir that promotes singing among adolescents as well as the values of school life. Since then, the choir has performed at several schools, churches and social centers around Spain. The choir has made several trips throughout Spain and exchanges with other youth choirs. The choir has also participated in several competitions, obtaining 15 awards, the last one to be recognized as a premium high quality choir all over the city of Madrid, besides to get other special educative awards from the National Board of Education from Spain. The choir has been invited in several international Choir Festivals in Romania, China and France.
Ph. D Alfonso Elorriaga has made all his research about the male changing voice, publishing several articles about in various international academic journals and publications. He has been assistant director of the Children's Choir of the Community of Madrid. He studied a postgraduate degree in music pedagogy at the Orff Institute Mozarteum University of Salzburg (Austria) and studied also choral conducting. He has been a lecturer in several Spanish Universities, actually teaching as an associate professor of Music Degree at the Autonoma University of Madrid. Recently, He's been recognized as the best conductor within the premium category of youth choirs in Madrid.
